R.E. Staite Engineering Inc., a general engineering contractor specializing in marine and heavy construction with the capability to handle major projects in all aspects of deep foundations, land and marine construction, both offshore and in harbors, from concept to completion. R.E. Staite has been directly involved in the evolution and construction of the San Diego waterfront since 1938, as well as projects ranging from Panama to Alaska.

Noteworthy projects have been the construction of U.S. Navy Nuclear Aircraft Carrier Wharves for the Stennis and Reagan North Island, dredging of the National City Marina Basin, U.S. Navy Ocean Pier Construction San Clemente Island and Wharf Repairs for the Port of San Diego. The company has driven piling and constructed foundations for the San Diego Convention Center, and hotels such as the Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott. R.E. Staite has built bridges, piers and wharves for the Unified Port of San Diego, the City of San Diego, National City, U.S. Navy, the County of San Diego and CALTRANS. R.E. Staite’s involvement in international trade through it’s subsidiary, Harbor Tug and Barge Towing, currently moving 15,000 ton aggregate barges from the Port of Ensenada, Mexico to the Port of San Diego, and the Port of Long Beach.

R.E. Staite’s presence in Maritime Environmental Cleanup Operations includes America’s Cup Harbor, Teledyne Ryan, the Port of San Diego Marine Terminals, San Diego Shipyards, as well as a key contractor for three years of the Exxon Valdez Environmental Cleanup in Prince William Sound, Alaska. The company was also the local support contractor for refloating the container ship Panama that ran aground off Ensenada Harbor and operated a Sand Terminal for over ten years in National City for material imported from Mexico.
